2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid to be Unveiled at Paris Auto Show

The upcoming 2014 Outlander plug-in hybrid will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. MMC of North America is aiming to release one of the first plug-in CUVs in late 2013 or at least by first quarter of 2014.

Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed any information about its pricing or mpg equivalent rating. From last year, folks are waiting to see the model and its performance details. Though the automaker hasn’t informed about Outlander hybrid edition’s release date, it has always been the talk of the town.

Roger Yasukawa, spokesperson from MMC’s North America division said the new Outlander plug-in is definitely coming to US, which will probably arrive by March 2014. They are targeting fiscal year 2013 and are still studying about the model.

With no word yet on mileage or pricing, he added they won’t name the competition at this point; however it’ll be unique, though it is the second EV-based model from Mitsubishi, after ‘I’.

He also confirmed that it’ll be offered even in European market, but first will be sold in US. Looking at the way their newly launched ‘I’ is going, we can expect lot more from Outlander hybrid model. If they start the production this year, it’ll be in your driveway before too long.
