Peugeot to Launch World’s First Diesel Electric Hybrid Vehicle

Peugeot, the leader in diesel technology, is launching the world’s first diesel electric car; the twin power pack will be utilized in 3008 model and is expected to be launched in 2012 December for sales.

The new 3008 Hybrid 4 is powered by a 163bhp 2.0 liter diesel engine with 37bhp electric motor. The French engineers will work separately or in tandem to offer a return of about 3.8L/100km in combined driving, with 99g/km CO2 emissions, which can be compared with 5.1L/100km and 135kg/km CO2 from the present 3008 diesel offering that has 1.6-L engine.

It will be available with 4 driving modes: zero emissions, sport, automatic, and four wheel drive. The new Hybrid 4, when arrives to the market, will feature a high level of trim and is expected to be priced around €35,000.
